A business built by accident.

I'd spent 25 years in B2B. Building businesses, scaling teams, opening markets. Large corporate sales roles across Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North. Public sector. Crown Commercial. Lots of exposure to strong, complex infrastructure.

Then I moved into energy.

I expected the same rigour. What I found was an industry running some of its most critical commercial processes in spreadsheets — and largely fine with it.


Settlement reconciliation. Pricing. Billing. Direct debit runs. Risk exposure.

Huge monetary values. All on spreadsheets. Manual processes. Legacy ways of working that nobody had been sufficiently motivated to change because the margins were comfortable enough to absorb the inefficiency.

I saw opportunity everywhere.
